Xiaomi Mi Play launch: Xiaomi Mi Play teased, shows ‘new display’

A few days back, a mysterious Xiaomi phone received TENAA certification

Under the model number M1901F9T and a few of the specifications of the phone were revealed as well.

Now, Xiaomi has released a few teasers which show a phone with a water drop notch, a first by the company. The teasers show a phone which matches the specifications that were revealed along with the certification that the phone received.

The company has, in the past launched phones with the wide notch that has increasingly become more of a trend. The company is now taking a leaf out of its competitors’ books and is opting for the more futuristic, space saving water drop style notch that we have seen in OPPO, Vivo and OnePlus smartphones.

The teasers reveal the front of the phone with the small notch and the back with a fingerprint scanner and a dual camera set up. This looks quite like the phone received the TENAA certification. According to a few sources, the phone will come in three variants, 4GB RAM with 64GB storage, 6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM128GB storage. Additionally, the phone will also come in three colours, namely Black, Dream Blue and Dawn Gold.

From previous generation Redmi phones, we can assume that the Xiaomi Play will be launched with a 5.84-inch display much like its predecessor, which we have reason to believe could be the Redmi 6 Pro. The teased phone measures 147.76 × 71.89 × 7.8mm and is reported to be powered by a 2,900mAh battery, which is a serious downgrade from the Redmi 6 Pro which features a 4,000mAh battery. It must be noted however, that there is no confirmation yet that the Xiaomi Play is indeed the Redmi 7.

The teasers reveal the expected launch date of Xiaomi Play smartphone which is 24 December. On the same date, it will be confirmed whether or not the phone actually is the Redmi 7 or Redmi 7 Pro. Stay tuned to TechSense to get the fastest updates regarding the smartphone.
