May the hero Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Rest in Peace.
Trapped under the heavy mass of snow for 6 long days due to an avalanche while guarding the world’s highest helipad in the area, which brought supplies for soldiers on the Siachen Glacier, the last of that brave unit; Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad, who fought for his life passes away. Siachen is the highest military point in whole world where hardly any man can think to breath is guarded by Indian army 24×7.
Hanamanthappa was posted there in 2015. Having volunteered to serve in other inhuman conditions like in Jammu- Kashmir, the North Eastern borders he had a valorous 13 years career in Indian Army. Inducted in the Madras Regiment 19th Battalion on October 25, 2002 Koppad was a resident of Betadur village in Dharwad district of Karnataka.
Other nine bravehearts who died in the avalanche are Subedar Nagesha; Havaldar Elum Alai M. Lance Havildar S. Kumar; Lance Naik Sudheesh B; Sepoy Mahesha P.N; Sepoy Ganesan G; Sepoy Rama Moorthy N; Sepoy Mustaq Ahmed S; and Sepoy (Nursing Assistant) Suryawanshi S.V.
