Snapdragon 8150 hits AnTuTu, beats the Kirin 980 and A12 Bionic Launched

Qualcomm is gearing up to launch its next flagship chipset

, the Snapdragon 8150, and as we draw closer to its launch, we are starting to see new information being revealed. In the latest leak, Snapdragon 8150’s AnTuTu benchmark scores have shown up, suggesting that Qualcomm might have a new winner on its hands.

The AnTuTu benchmark scores reveal that the Snapdragon 8150 chipset has scored 3,62,292, smashing past Huawei’s Kirin 980, which has scored a meager 2,73,913 in comparison and beating even Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset, which has scored 3,53,210. In percentage terms, Snapdragon 8150 betters the Kirin 980 by 32%, while it scores just 2.57% more than Apple A12 Bionic.

The benchmarks have revealed more than just scores, though. According to AnTuTu leak on Weibo, Qualcomm has opted for a tri-cluster core setup, similar to what Huawei is doing with Kirin 980 and Samsung has done with Exynos 9820. However, while Samsung has opted for two custom big cores, two Cortex A75 cores and four smaller Cortex A55 cores, Qualcomm is going with a slightly different combination.

According to the leak, Qualcomm has chosen a 1+3+4 core combination. In other words, there might be one big core for performance, three medium cores and four small cores for power efficiency. This goes against initial reports which suggested a combination of 2+2+4 cores.

Coming to clock speeds, the one big Cortex A76 core is clocked at 2.74GHz, while another three Cortex A76 cores are clocked at 2.4GHz. The four smaller Cortex A55 cores are clocked at 1.78GHz.

As far as graphics are concerned, we could be looking at an increase of almost 20% with the Snapdragon 8150 when compared with the Snapdragon 845. In terms of the CPU, there is an increase of nearly 37% between the two chipsets. Qualcomm is expected to launch Snapdragon 8150 later this year, and it might also debut on the Galaxy S10 ange next year.
