Learn to Love Yourself.

How often we mistake mental health with just a bad day. We think we are too strong or too happy or too young or too old to be mentally ill. We consider it as something very bad or something which happens only to those who have had extreme hard time to survive. Which is certainly not true.

It’s true that people who have been through something worse in past would have some sort of impact on their mental condition, but it’s not completely true. I have seen people suffering with mental disorders who never had anything going wrong with them. They have always led a beautiful life, but at some point even your own shadow leaves you. Nothing in excess is good for human health. Not even happiness or success. One should learn to cope up with everything going around them at ease and with their own pace.

We are afraid to seek help. We live in a denial that there is nothing wrong with us and it’s all in our head. Just like cancer, mental disorder too hit you at any time irrespective of your age or current state. Any kind of ailment doesn’t seek your permission to enter your body and fuck up with it. The antidote to those are our own acceptance. When we understand our body well. When we start accepting our flaws, weaknesses, past, and stop playing the blame game. We need to stop paying hide & seek with our emotions. When we learn that we are not alone in this battle. There are millions out there who are suffering just like us in silent. Perhaps, our stories might inspire them to overcome the challenges life throw at us.

We should learn to let go of the pain which is breaking us bit by bit into pieces everyday. Which disables us to function properly on daily basis. Which makes us the worst version of ourselves. When we lose control over our nerves and do things we shouldn’t have done. When we become our own enemies. We should get the immediate help and no matter what we deserve to be understood. There is no shame in being diagnosed with a mental disorder. It’s not something we chose to be,it’s a result of being strong and brave for too long.

The most important organ of our system is mind. Imagine, what harm it can cause if it stops functioning normally. Don’t let anything hurt your body or soul, not even your own mind. Be kind to yourself. Seek help when needed. Learn to put your health before anything. At the end of the day, you have to with yourself. People will come and go, you will remain.
