I’m sure that I’m not the only one who feels that 2016 has no chill. It was faster than Usain Bolt’s 100 m sprint and I’m still trying to reminisce about the experiences and memories that I made in this year. Everything still feels so new. I don’t know if it’s sad that the year passed so quickly or if it is something to be happy about that new beginnings are here. It has taught me so many lessons but I’m not sure what to expect from 2017 and the credit goes to this year for being stupid and oh so quick.
Have we tried unplugging 2016 waiting ten seconds and plugging it back in?

I can’t even begin to summarize how this year has been. 2016 has been equally productive and unproductive. There have been new experiences, new friends, opportunities that I’ve let go and regretted as well as those that I grabbed with both my hands, people who have affected me and taught me lessons that are now a part of my life. I’ve learnt these lessons the hard way and I’d love to share these with everybody.
- Never take your loved ones for granted.
No matter what be honest with them. Without it, there is no foundation for a flourishing relationship. Just because they love you doesn’t mean they’ll come around after every time you’ve hurt them. Yes they love you and they’re going to stick by your side through thick and thin but make sure they know that you appreciate them and their efforts.
- Don’t be a cry baby.
Stop whining about how nothing happens your way and let it flow. Believe that some things are meant to happen and some aren’t but don’t give up on your dreams either. Find the balance between taking charge of your own life and letting things happen at their own pace.
- Stop thinking you have to perfect to find love.
You need to be who you are and that’ll be just enough. Also, you’re a beautiful human being. And that’s what matters and should matter. You don’t have to settle for anything less. You deserve the best.
- Do not indulge in self doubt.
It can be addictive to degrade yourself and think that you can never really do something. It’s easier than doing anything else. Blaming yourself is as convenient as blaming someone else. Believe in yourself and say yes.
- You are enough. But that doesn’t mean you won’t try to improve yourself.
It’s imperative that you aim at being the best version of yourself. Being adamant that however you are, you are the best is also not done. Learn, listen and do more.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
You’re going to get stuck at some point or the other and you’re going to need someone to pull you out of the rut. And you shall be rescued when you ask for help. Because that’s how you save a sinking ship. It makes you feel vulnerable but that is not a sign of weakness. Don’t let your fear hold you back or control your life. If you own your fears and know who you are, no one is in the position to use it against you.
- You are not the sun.
The world does not revolve around you and hence don’t let your ego control you. As youngsters this is hard to understand, but as you get older you realize nothing waits for you or nobody’s world revolves around you. Adjust yourself and drill this in your brain because everybody needs someone or the other at some point of their life.
- Not all your friends will stick by your side.
Realize that you’re growing up and not everyone is going to make room in your life. You will move on from broken friendships and at the same time learn a lot from it. People change and grow apart, it’s all a part of life.
My New Years resolution is to elevate higher and get rid of all self doubt
