Instagram Is About to Change the Look of Your Profile Page

Popular photo sharing service Instagram has revealed that it is testing

a redesign of the profile page to make it easier for users to connect and express themselves. The Facebook-owned photo sharing app has stated that these new changes may be rolled out over the next few weeks, presumably with a server-side toggle.

Revealing its changes, the User Profile page on Instagram may be getting a makeover, with new more noticeable buttons that should make it easier to interact and connect with other users. Additionally, Instagram has also shown off a bunch of new buttons like Call, Directions, Order and Email. So now if you visit a profile that has these options enabled, the buttons are now more prominent, so you should be able to tap on them more easily.

New Features

“Over the next several weeks, you may see features re-arranged at the top of your profile including changes to icons, buttons and the way you navigate between tabs, which we hope will make profiles easier and cleaner to use. The photos and videos you’ve shared on your grid won’t change. “

As is often the case these days, these new changes in the Instagram app will be rolled out at random over the next several weeks. These changes are most probably server side as well, so you may or may not be able to see these changes. Facebook, the company that owns Instagram, is very well known for its almost continuous A/B testing of new changes and features, so this should come as no surprise.

Earlier, Instagram also rolled out a new “Your Activity” feature that would let users track the amount of time they spend in the app. This is similar to the Digital Wellbeing features that are now available on the latest versions of iOS and Android. You can access “Your Activity” by opening your profile page and tapping on the hamburger menu on the top right.
