Huawei Mate 20 Pro with triple-camera setup launched in India

Huawei has finally launched its first Mate smartphone in India on November 27.

The Mate 20 Pro boasts of powerful hardware and software but there are a few groundbreaking firsts with it that allow it to stand out in the world of Android smartphones. The Mate 20 Pro consists of the first Android smartphones to be powered by a 7nm processor Kirin 980 and is also the first of its kind to wirelessly charge other such supported devices, including phones and headphones.

Huawei has also gone with Synaptics Chip-On-Film (COF) ClearView tech for the OLED panel on Mate 20 Pro assisted by ClearPad touch controllers. Essentially, Synaptics repositions the drivers right under the display by folding them, which gives more screen estate at the chin.

Specifications

Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution (3120×1440 pixels). The front of the Mate 20 Pro sports an iPhone-like notch which is similarly functional as well. This gives it an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor unlike the Mate 20 which has a physical sensor on the rear panel. The panel is HDR10 compliant, which means, consuming content on this phone will be a delight.

The cameras on the Mate 20 Pro are far more advanced as it comes with a 40-megapixel wide-angle lens, 20-megapixel super wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. For selfies, the phones come equipped with a 24-megapixel sensor.

It is powered by Kirin 980 chipset which is fabricated using a 7nm process. This is backed by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which is expandable by up to 256GB. The Mate 20 runs on EMUI 9.0 which is based by Android 9.0 Pie.

Huawei has sourced the lenses for its cameras from Leica and features a triple-camera setup on the rear. This includes a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide snapper and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. On the front, there’s a single 24-megapixel wide-angle camera.

The Mate 20 has a 4,000mAh battery which supports fast charging, up to 58% in 30 minutes.
