Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, the actress was only of 4 years when she made her first Bollywood debut in the 1975 drama Julie.
With some of the popular movies like Chandni, Himmatwala, ChaalBaaz, Nagina, Khuda Gawah, Mawali, Mr India and others, she went on to become one of the most iconic female stars of Bollywood.
Sridevi died in Dubai on this Saturday that is 24th February 2018 after a cardiac arrest. She was only 54. Sridevi was in Dubai, with her husband Boney Kapoor and her younger daughter Khushi to attend her nephew and actor Mohit Marwah’s wedding. Shree Devi had married film producer Boney Kapoor with whom she had two daughters.
President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted: “Shocked to hear the passing of movie star Sridevi. She has left millions of fans heartbroken. Her performances in films such as Moondram Pirai, Lamhe and English Vinglish remain an inspiration for other actors. My condolences to her family and close associates.”
She took a 15-year-long break from movies, a year just after her marriage. She returned in 2012’s “English Vinglish”.
Sridevi made her Bollywood debut in the year 1978 with “Solva Sawan”.
Sridevi had worked in almost all the film industry like Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. She was also awarded with Padma Shri, which is the fourth highest civilian award, in 2013.
