    Social networking site like Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, etc. have larger impact on teenage group. To make our selves famous or to increase the number of friends users tend to accept friend requests from an unknown person and also share some personal information. Such over-friendly users fall prey to cases of cyber crimes.

1. Limit the personal information you post or shared information

Do not share information such as your address or information about your personal life. If you post information about you, make sure that the strangers may not disturb you or misuse your data. You should be careful when you post personal information, including photos.

If you interact with a stranger, be careful about the information you share or agreeing to meet them in person.

Never share your bank details or passwords on the social networks, they may be misused.

2. Be aware that the Internet is a public resource

Once you post or share your information online, you can’t change it many times, because even if you delete such information it may still persist in other users accounts to whom you have shared it. So always post information which you are comfortable in sharing with others.


3. Strangers

If you interact with people you do not know, be cautious about the amount of information you reveal or agreeing to meet them in person. It is easy for an unknown person to create a good image for you just by chatting and showing himself as your well wisher.

4. Customize privacy settings of your account

By customizing your privacy setting will help you to decide who should have access to your personal information like contacts, present locations etc.

Always enable the security and privacy settings that are updated.


5. Be aware of third-party applications that are freely available

When you install new applications check which user information will be access by the application from your device.

6. Use of Strong passwords – Protect your account with passwords that cannot easily be guessed. Follow proper instructions to create new and strong password.
