Gold And Bronze Medals In Commonwealth Games 2018

Like all previous years, India has once again proven the level of the stand it can take on the global level. The dignity of Our nation has once again been maintained in Commonwealth games. Participants work hard every day for years to be able to stand a chance in this glorious event. They work every minute of their life to make sure they get one’s just desserts. Sanjita Chanu and Deepak Lather proved their strength on the 2nd day of Commonwealth Games 2K18.

Sanjita Chanu, Gold Medalist

24-year old, Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu was born in Manipur, India. She is a two time Commonwealth Games weightlifter Champion. She won her first Commonwealth gold medal at 2014 Glasgow under women’s 48kg weight category and now second at 2018 Gold Coast under women’s 53kg weight category. Chanu made the Commonwealth record of 84kg for the Snatch Segment and 108kgs in clean and jerk under 53kg weight category on 6th April 2018.

Deepak Lather, Bronze Medalist

18-years old, Deepak Lather won the bronze medal under men’s 69kg weight category in Commonwealth Games on 6th April 2018, organized at Gold Coast, Australia. He was the youngest weightlifter present at the event. When Deepak was 15, he shook the Indian weightlifting fraternity by holding the Commonwealth Youth Championships, held at Samoa. He broke the National record in the men’s 62kg weight category. He lifted 132kg in Snatch Segment making 159kg as his personal best. Deepak’s lifting techniques are fluid and easy to watch as he made it look easy during Commonwealth Games.
